This also refers to as the Beautiful Island by the Portuguese. This was the story when they landed this place in the 1544. The beautiful Taiwan offers a wide range of things to do. Sightseeing can be really fun here. Here are some of the best places to visit in Taiwan.

Taipei
This is the capital of Taiwan. You must visit this place when you are on a tour to Taiwan. This “Taipei Basin” was occupied by an Aboriginal tribe known as the Ketagelan. Later on, Taipei was regarded as an imperative port for the tea trading for Han Chinese.
The Taipei 101 is the tallest skyscraper in the whole world. The building possesses about 106 floors. Five of these are underground. Taiwan is vulnerable to natural calamities such as typhoons and earthquakes. The Taipei 101 is designed to survive both of them.
Other Taiwan tourist attractions include the following:
•	The Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
•	Sun Moon Lake.

Steeped in a rich cultural heritage, Taiwan looks like it has remained untouched by the frenzied onslaught of industrialization. Speckled with ancient temples and historical sites, Taiwan is a dream destination for connoisseurs of art and architecture.

Those spiritually inclined can spend some time at the Fo Guang Shan monastery in Taiwan. The serenity of the place also reflects on the faces of the monks who spent most of their time meditating. You too can take a class on meditation by one of the masters there and feel a sense of calm that evades us in our day to day lives. A visit to the tranquil Confucius Temple in Taiwan is also a must if you are inspired by his ideals of humanity and fidelity.
