The Gila Wilderness in New Mexico has one of the most dramatic landscapes in the area. Its landscape includes deep canyons, rolling hills, high mesas, juniper woodland, grassland and pinion. The Gila wilderness covers the largest land compared to any other national park in the area. It was established in 1924 to preserve a wild place that future generations can benefit from.

It is a great destination for those who enjoy hiking and backpacking. The area also has a very broad trail system that visitors can use to gain access to the Gila Wilderness.

The Gila Wilderness usually has winter temperatures that are mild throughout the day but they tend to decrease during the night. The place usually has a lot of snow between December and February. The area is usually very hot in August and July.
